Birth Stories
An Atmosphere of Trust by Vesper
Carson's Birth Story
Testimonials
"We fell in love with Judy immediately! Meeting with her was a very
comforting and informational experience. Judy is warm and knowledgeable,
and she devoted a large amount of time talking with us about natural birth
choices. We were so inspired and confident that Judy could help us deliver
our healthy baby safely at home. During labor and delivery Judy and her
staff were so supportive and honoring of the entire family - we strongly
recommend her. She is the best!"

"The whole birth team were miracle workers--especially Judy. I am thankful for her quick action in delivering Alban. And I am convinced that this was the right way for me to give birth. I wouldn't have done it any other way--hospital, drugs (it never occurred to me once to ask for them. Not once). Alban's Apgars were 8 and 10, and he was so alert I could not believe it. Everyone helped Alban to come into the world so beautifully and peacefully, with no stress or mistrust. And Judy was so on the ball. Thank God! She was amazing and I want her to deliver all my kids."

"We feel so blessed to have found Judy for a midwife. We had a wonderful and natural birth at home. The water was great and offered so much relief. We are pregnant again and would not think of having our baby anywhere else or with
anyone else!"

"I feel like my labor was shorter and so much easier
because I was at home with such a great support system. I would encourage
everyone who is low risk to consider this as an option. My first baby was at a
birth center but this was even better."

"After becoming so frustrated with the medical
communities approach to pregnancy and birth and being treated like a sick person I found Judy and have had two beautiful homebirths, the last one born in the water! I am on my third, due in November 2004 and would highly recommend
Judy."

"I had my first baby in the hospital with midwives.
While the midwives were great they were still restricted by all the hospital
protocols and so was I. It felt like I could not do anything I wanted even though I was low risk and healthy. I was not allowed to eat or drink. I was on the monitor all the time. The whole experience was not what I had hoped for. Eight years later I had my next baby at home with Judy and her assistant. It was wonderful! I was able to do what I needed. I walked, showered, sat in the water, ate and drank as I desired. When it came time to push I did it the way it felt right for me. My husband was with me as well as some good friends. My older child came right after the birth to be with us. My extended family came right away. I felt well cared for and nurtured by Judy. She also helped me a great deal with the homeopathic remedies for minor discomforts. Having a homebirth was light years ahead of our hospital birth experience! Judy, you were exactly what we were looking for. A million thanks from all of us."

I first met Judy...[when] I was pregnant with our second child and very committed to having another homebirth. When looking for a midwife, I discovered that most work in hospitals, yet we wanted the peace and intimacy of a homebirth. After several phonecalls I found Judy Hagan, one of the few midwives still committed to homebirth. Frank and experienced, Judy was the best choice for us. In my opinion, birthing women when seeking midwives must find someone who supports their vision of birth. Yet we need to remain open to their judgment based on years of experience. After all, women who still choose to be homebirth midwives in our cesarean-infested culture have an extraordinary sense of honor and vision for the birth process.
